Langkawi's Fish Farm

Continue from previous post,
Island Hopping Part 1

If you were wondering what
Ewin had seen in the fish farm,
which carried him far away into the wonderland,
so here it is ...

A huge sting ray!

Look at the round eyes of the sting ray ...
We were allowed to touch the ray and
to the extend of feeding it with smaller fish
from hand to mouth, of course
with the supervision of the workers at
the fish farm.
Don't you remember what had happened
to the Crocodile Hunter,
Mr Steve Irwin?

Sting ray was doing a somersault!
The white skin below the ray
is actually kinda soft and smooth;
just like the feeling of touching
the little innocent hand of a baby
On the other side, the darker skin
has a rougher and harder texture
as compares to the previous.

Mussels
One of the favourite seafood around the world
I recalled when I was visiting China last year,
I ate mussels, about the size of this,
cooked in a broth of garlic
and fermented black bean
under the slow burning flame of charcoal.
Yum, Yum :)

Horseshoe Crab @ Limulus polyphemus
A tip to identify whether it is a male of female;
a female is typically larger and bigger
in comparison with the male
The horseshoe crab are breed
in Langkawi for its eggs
Local people seem to enjoy eating
fried horseshoe crab's eggs with chili
Another example of exploitation
of sea creature to satisfy human's hunger!

Horseshoe can be used as a safety helmet too!
That's how it gets its nickname,
HELMET CRAB
This unknown guy demonstrated how
Helmet Crab should be wore properly,
but bear in mind, it is not certified by S IR I M ...
Use it at your own risk!

Fish food ...
The composed small fish and shells
are used to feed on the larger fish
Fish need a big dose of protein,
don't they?

Seem like we are going to have
extra dishes for dinner tonight
" Let's pack them up and bring home! "
" Maybe we can stop at Kuah Town
to get a bottle of white wine for
seafood dinner "
Lolz :)

Some scenery views around the fish farm ...

The lonely, deserted yacht ...
It is common to see such yacht along
the river bank, most of them are
put on price tag for sale!

A happy couple was canoeing along the river ...
How romantic it is!
("*(",)

The smell of the rain ...
Dark clouds gloom over the other side of the sky,
signaling thunderstorm is arriving soon.
A man is canoeing hastily toward home
before the rain started
to fall ferociously ...

Plenty of story to cover up next;
the eagle feeding activity
and visit to White Crocodile Cave

Stay tune,

cHeErS,
KeithK :)
