Gong Xi Gong Xi ...

Today is the first day of Chinese New Year. The "bing-bang-doom" sounds in the neighborhood awaken me up early in the morning. It was the Lion Dance show by one of my neighbor, a taukey who runs business of agriculture. Greeted my mum and dad, a Happy Chinese New Year with a warm hug for them brought cheers and joys to their faces. They were more than indeed pleasant and excited. Haha. soon after breakfast, we went to Grandma's house, and then ... I'm home! Lolz :)

"Chun" - Meaning "Spring"

The blossom of Plum Flower @ "Mei Hua"
indicates the arrival of Spring,
which is the new year of
Chinese Lunar calendar

Golden Pumpkin
A symbol of prosperity and fullness!

Lo-kam @ Mandarin Oranges
"Kam" in Chinese means "Gold",
another symbol of prosperity and wealth
to the Chinese

Pineapple - "Ong Lai"
In Hokkien, "Ong Lai" means
praying for wealth and good luck
to everyone, especially to our family member

The giant Red Lantern
Red Lanterns are hung up in front of house,
traditionally to scare off the "Nian" monster
during the olden days,
but now, Red Lanterns are merely
for decoratives and as a symbol
of good luck and happiness

Dad is off today,
most probably we are going out
to my uncle's place.
So many foodies goodies to eat,
love'em all!
Lolz :)

My House - Visit me!

Corner Talk: ManUtd squeezed past through Tottenham Hotspurs and advanced into the 5th round of FA Cup with a 2-1 win over the Londoners after coming back from 1-o down when the game was just 5 minutes old. Hotspurs took the lead through their Russian's hitman, Roman Pavlyuchecko with a clever heading into Ben Foster's lower left corner goal post. The Red Devils showed their credibility as a champion by setting up some attacking moves and dangerous passes, but, it was not until the 36th and 37th minutes, that, Paul Scholes and Dmitar Berbatov put United back into the lead. Woohoo ... Glory Manutd, Glory!!

Today will be Chinese New Year's eve celebration. There are so many things to be done, such as, preparing for the "nian fan" ( New Year Eve dinner), clean the house and decorate the house with red bright colorful decorative items. It is raining cats and dogs outside now, heavy, hopefully, it will not be another flooding new year as what had happened in the previous year. To all my friends, here is the map of my house's location. Visit me during Chinese New Year. I have made some foodies goodies, Cheese cake and biscuits. Not fully made by me, but, I was assisting my mum with the preparations. Haha :)

Short post today,
more CNY pictures coming up after this
Gonna help mum in kitchen,
see you all later!

Happy Chinese "Niu" (Ox) Year

Home for CNY 2009

Long hours of wait in KLIA finally paid off yesterday when I got my flight back to KCH. Flights were really over-booked, even the waiting list for stand-by ticket holders have been closed for registration. Some passengers even have to overcome the hardship of staying overnight in the airport. MAS has called for extra flights for KUL-KCH route for reinforcements, yet, the total passengers still outnumber the numbers of seats in aircraft.

I was indeed lucky and grateful to enjoy such a privilege as part of big family of MAS. This is particularly as I could apply for jump seat in the cockpit in event where there aren't enough seats in the cabin. Hereby, in The Journals, I would like to recall my highest appreciation to Captain Chow and F/O Muhammad Afiq for Flight MH 2528 (A330-200) for granting my jump seat application. Not forgotten to all the staffs in Flight Ops, Abg Fadzly, Abg Roslan and Abg Megat for your kindest assistance during the application process. To stewardess, Miss Tan Mei Na, I apologize for taking over your jump seat, I don't mean it, but, after all, it is a first come first serve basis. Anyway, sorry for that! She is pretty, but ... Should I be more gentlemen? Lolz :)

My boarding pass, see, I don't have seat number for it.
It is written as "JMP" - Jump Seat

Airbus 330-200 in KLIA
Flight 2528, Airbus 330-200 (9M-Mike Kilo Delta)

Still more to come for my Jump Seat experince,
pictures, pictures and more pictures ...

I am going out for hair-cut soon,
gotta stop now,
make sure you be right back!

A320 flight 1549 in Hudson River

On the 15th of January, an Airbus 320 by US Airways (Flight 1549) made an emergency crash landing/water ditching into the Hudson River, New York City. All passengers on board, 150 people with 5 crew members survived the crash without any major injury. It was indeed a heroic and swift action from the Captain of Flight 1547, Captain Chesley Sullenberger to escape the highly populated area and skyscrapers in the NY City before deciding to make a water ditch into Hudson River.

Flight 1549 took from Runway 4 at La Guardia Airport at 3:26 p.m. Flight 1549 is a domestic route, flying first to Charlotte/Douglas, North Carolina. The red arrow indicates the site where the A320 made water ditching into Hudson River. The whole sequence of events only took about 6 minutes from the aircraft taking off at La Guardia Airport before safely landed into Hudson River.

The cause of event is still not confirmed yet till now. The NTSB and authority concerned have been conducting thorough investigations into this case. The pilots complaint both engines failure after suspecting "hitting birds" while climbing through altitude of 3200 feets, about 90 seconds after take-off.

The above first video was a news broadcast, reporting for the Flight 1549 incident by the local television channel. The second video was a video recorded by a eye witness on the emergency crash of Flight 1549 beside the Hudson River. Surprsingly, he was too shocked to make an 911 call. Enjoy! Not too often we get to see such a dramatic event, most of time, it could only happen in movie! Lolz :)

No conclusion is to be made until the analysis from the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR) which were both retrived from the submerged aircrfat is carried out by the NTSB. However, in reality, the possibility of BOTH engine failure due to bird strikes is very slim, almost to the extent of impossible! We shall wait patiently for the outcome of NTSB's investigation.

Cheers,
KeithK :)

What is your colour?

Corner Talk: ManUtd stirred up the challenge on EPL title after cruising to another 1-0 win past the highly resistance, Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium. It wasn't an easy game as ManUtd were denied numerous chances by the outstanding performances by Bolton's keeper, Jassi Jassekelaine, where all the United's strike force comprising of Berbatov, Tevez and Ronaldo all tested him well from the beginning. It set to be a stalemate until the last hour, where Dmitar Berbatov netted in a goal from near post after feeding the cross from Tevez from the right corner box, ensuring a precious 3 points to be brought back to Old Trafford; more significantly, it lifted ManUtd to the peak of the EPL's table for the first time since the start of the season with a game in hand. Wow ... ManUtd definitely has the destiny to be Champion gain!

Jogging in KJ Park Pt2

Corner Talk: Besides doing Module 5 in college, this week, we starts with our Aircraft Standard Practices (ASP). Our first project on ASP is doing wire-locking for 17 different types of aircraft components, ranging from Landing Gear Uplock Actuator, Hydraulic Pressure Relief Valve and Hydraulic Pump. Generally, wire-locking is done to prevent the fasteners from getting loose from the mating components due to severe vibration during aircraft operation, especially bolts and nuts. Last year, we actually did wire-locking before on a mock-up metal plates, but this time, it is with real components. It was indeed a practice-gets-perfect session for me. However, I have learned something new today, which is the Wire-Locking on Flight Control Cable using two different methods ; the British Standard (Cross Type) and the American Standard ( Twist Type). So much fun ... Lolz :)

Jogging in KJ Park

Corner Talk: I woke up this morning, rather late, around 9am with many things in my head to be accomplished, but due to time-constraints, I have to postponed some of my initial plans. Revision must move on, there were a little obstructions last night, it took me awhile to understand the Flash, SAR, Digital Ramp and Dual Slope ADC. My instructor was kind enough to pull back his throttle to ensure all of us understood the topics, yet, he will be behind his teaching schedule by now. I was quite annoyed to those my colleagues who don't appreciate the lesson, it's fine to them if they decide not to listen in class, but, worse still, they are talking so loudly behind the class and creating distraction to those who want to learn. Such a disgrace! They are not showing respect to the instructor who is dedicated to teach us. You guys, suck!! Wth ...

Last Saturday, we went to Kelana Jaya Park for an early exercise - jogging session. Actvity started at 8am, early in the morning. It was a bright and sunny morning, the sun wasn't hiding behind the clouds. Many people were in the park, ranging from children to the eldest, all of them were having such a wonderful time with no worries and no stress. A munch of happiness enlightened their face with a broad smile; greeting, good morning, to every passer-by. Friendly and warm Malaysian!

Do they greet the little kitten too?
Well, at least one person do ...
Haha :)

ManUd added more woes to Chelsea' blues

Corner Talk: Weekend had been very much interesting and fun, shopping and shopping. Winning and winning. Yeah ... Chinese New Year is just two weeks away exactly from today. My minds have been set to "CNY mood", as almost everyday, I will play the new year songs on my Windows Media Player. It is not too often you get to play CNY songs with such excitements and feeling, what to say, CNY is only celebrated once a year! Shopping was great yesterday at Sunway Pyramid. Met a beautiful young promoter, April at Topman & Topshirt Shop. She has a nice name, yeah? Haha. Because of her, my friend and I spent RM 120 at her shop alone. Oh my God!! Total, I had spent few hundreds for my CNY clothes and household groceries. Definitely, my budgets will be overspent, need to re-calculate my plan again ... Haha :)

Last night, ManUtd clinched a crucial victorious over Chelsea which proved to be vital for the Red Devils to keep a head to toe with league topper, Liverpool and retains their title back to back for the third season. Indeed, it was quoted as one of the best performance by ManUtd thus far, crushing Chelsea by 3 goals to nil with Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney and Dmitar Berbatov all on targets. With two games still in hand, ManUtd could close the gap with Liverpool if they could make something out of these games as Liverpool were held drawless by the relegation-threaten, Stoke City over the weekend.

Wayne Rooney scored past Peter Cech
to make it 2-o for
ManUtd after
the restart of the interval.
Patrice Evra acted brilliant by crossing
a precise which found Rooney in front of the net

Dmitar Berbatov was mobbed by his team-mates
after slotted in from short range in front of the goal
to ensure victory in ManUtd's hand.
Nothing tastes better than defeating Chelsea
in front of their own crowd ...

Module 5 revision is on the way,
hopefully to complete the final chapter
of the notes on time,
preferably somewhere before the end of this week

Sleepy now,
stay up till 2am in the morning
to watch ManUtd's game...

I'm heading off to bed now,
Good Night!

Pizza Uno Breakfast

Corner Talk: This morning, college's Saturday activity was jogging at Kelana Jaya's Lake. Went there with my friend, Nantha. By the time I reached there, we walked, yup, not jogged as the activity suggested, took some photos here and there, as usual, saw many people fishing illegally by the lake side, then, pooop ... Home sweet home! Weather today is cloudy, the sun is hiding shyly behind the clouds. Definitely, it is a good sweet time to take a stroll in the park with such a breezing wind around ...

________________________________________________________________

This supposes to be last year's post, but, I kept pending on it before I found a space of time to update them in The Journals. Nevertheless, it was one of my college Saturday activity in the month of October 2008. The president of Food & Beverages Club, Vicky had organized a joint senior Batch 06 and junior Batch 07 for a breakfast in Pizza Uno Restaurant in USJ Subang. It was raining that morning, I recalled, reached there on time, yet, the restaurant was still shut, waited for quite some time, before it opened its door to welcome us. I bet the Pizza Uno management must be super happy and glad for there were about 30 of us who will be going to dine there. Obviously, taking care of our orders alone for that morning will be sufficient to cover for their business of the day. Lolz :)

Welcome to Pizza Uno!
Purposely create the high noise level,
boost ISO 1600 and set to long shuttle

Full English Breakfast Set
Chicken Sausage, Baked Beans in Ketchup,
Omelet, Beef Bacon and Cheese Mushroom

Price: RM 16.00
Portion is rather big, just for breakfast!
However, it doesn't taste any different
or special form any typical breakfast set.
Worth to give a try!

Toast Breads
Butter-spread, Strawberry Jam and Original

If you are traveling on board of an aircraft,
you will agree with me that
the breads you are having 30, 000 feets above the sky
is much better than these!

For a set of Full English Breakfast that you have ordered,
it comes with tow pieces of these breads.

Flippy Flop Egg Omelette

I can't see any Flip Flop Circuit on
these omelet also?!
I wander why they called it such
a weird name?
Lolz :)

Egg Benedict Turkey Ham
Price: RM 16.00

This portion is small,
compares to the English Breakfast.
A simple toast bread below
with turkey ham slice in between
and a half-cooked egg on top
Not so much worth it,
in my opinion ...
Haha :)

Oh ya,
I have a riddle to share with all of you.
Ready to take the challege?

" If you were sitting in an Electrical Bullet Train
traveling to the North,

at which direction will you see
the smoke coming from? "

Think carefully,
drop me a message if you know the answer,
I shall reply you in the next post ...

Happy Trying,
KeithK :)

Corner Talk: This morning, ManUtd suffered a humiliating loss to Championship struggle, Derby County by 1 goal to 0 in the semi-final of Carling Cup in Pride Park. There will be a lot more to do for Alex Ferguson's side who is going to take on Chelsea for a clash of the giants this Sunday in the Barclays Premier League before battling it out with Derby County for the second leg of Carling's semi final in a fortnight time.

College 2009 kicks off with sunshine!

Phew... Just came back from college, afternoon shift classes continue to roll, currently I am doing Module 5, Aircraft Digital Electronics and Computer Systems. First class today with Mr Badarul, yet he had already covered the first chapter, Aircraft Instruments in just merely 3 hours. Really intensive! Our Training Manager, Mr Au, had earlier informed Module 5 Exam is scheduled to be on the 6th of February, exactly a month away from today. Woah ... really intensive! Again, Module 5 isn't a short module as in Module 4, total, 12 chapters will be covered within this month. With Chinese New Year is just around the corner, there will definitely be plenty of distrations; eagerness to shopping, the so-called "CNY mood" and so many more ...

By the way, Module 4 Electronics' results had just been released this afternoon. Yeah, yeeha yeeha, I got a perfect home run!! Haha :) Thanks God for Thy blessing. Based on previous quizzes and trials, I have plotted a graph for it ... Here it goes! Lolz :)

Training programme for this year is expected to be more competitive and challenging as this will be the final year for theory classes before we proceed to our On-Job Training (OJT). Management of college has targetted for us to sit for our first license examinations by the end of the year. Since I am taking Avionics thread, I will be sitting for Electrical License. Hopefully, everything will go on smoothly. Must buck up, pull up my socks and brush up for now onward. Set my target, aim higher and work towards it!! Go go go, Keith!! Module 5, here I come ... :)
