Island Hopping Part 2

After a visit to the Langkawi's Fish Farm, we proceeded to our next stop - The Bat Cave (Gua Kelawar) The journey to Bat Cave wasn't any too long, as it is just a stone's throw away from the Fish Farm. At the entrance of Bat Cave, we came across this warning signage ...

" Do not use Flash "
Once you pop out your flash,
these sleepy and drowsy bats
may suffer from severe shock and
heart-attack!
They may attack any intruders as well,
so beware!
Remember, they are Draculas?
Haha :)

This cave, aged about thousand years old
(as recorded in history)
was formed largely
from its calcium carbonate element.
Look at this amazing artwork
from the mother nature.
A stalactite may take up to thousands
of years of formation,
usually shaped like an icicle,
hanging from the roof of a cave or the like,
and formed by the dripping of percolating calcareous water.

As the name implies - Bat Cave
Pieces of stalactite formed in the shape of a gigantic bat!
Look carefully, it has ' a head ',
and a pair of ' wings '
Can you spot it?

Sleepy, lazy, cute baby bat @ pup ...
Ok, don't worry, bats are not draculas!
Draculas are merely a myth after all.
Bats are mostly insectivores and frugivores.
Surprisingly, a bat is a transceiver of its own.
By emitting and receiving
a high frequency sonar,
bats locate preys and other nearby objects.
Even though, I shone a torch on this
baby bat, I suspect it was wearing
a "sunglasses" at that moment!
Or are they blind as claimed before?

The next pit-stop is the The Crocodile Cave ...
What's so special about this cave?
Locals have a folktale to share,
they claimed this was the home of the
legendary Langkawi's White Crocodile.
Measured at the length of 3.0 meters,
it was last seen in this area on 2004.
Ever since, it was nowhere to be found.
It is believed that the White Crocodile had died
or migrated to other area,
largely due to human's intrusion
in the name of tourism.
Ok, this is what I think,
" So small arrgh the ' hole '?
Then, the Sarawakian can be proud
of their larger ' hole ',
the Mulu Cave! "
Get it? Bigger ' hole '?
I bet kennysia.com will agree with me.
Give me 5, Kenny!

Sailing through The Valley ...
The scenery beside the valley was wonderful;
peaceful, quiet, tranquil and calm.
Slow moving current flow of the river
around this area encourages
the suitability of of
mangrove trees to grow well here.
A hot-spot to catch a glimpse
at fresh water crocodiles too!
Lolz :)

Eagles Feeding is next!
Nice shot by Ewin with his SAL 55200
Perfect timing!

" Flight Eagle01 requests permission
for landing at runway A1 "
Down and catcha the fish!
Mission accomplished ...

Come live in me
All of my life
take over,
Come breathe in me,
I will rise
On eagle's wing ...

Our Captain ...
Thanks to him so much for driving us around the Islands
It was indeed a splendid and excited trip
He is very pro in sea navigation,
just like a walking GPS
He knows his ways around, here and there,
good job!

A sneak peak into upcoming
Langkawi's adventure ...

Regards,
KeithK :)
