080808

Today is a special day, a day that all the Chinese around the world would be proud of. Today signifies an enormous breakthrough in the long surviving Chinese civilization. The date, 08/08/2008 is definitely very meaningful, in direct Chinese translation, it means "fatt fatt fatt" or "prosperity and prosperity again". "Memang very the ong la, very ong!" The 2008 Beijing's Olympic Game's curtain has been risen tonight, sharp at 8:08pm at the Beijing Olympic Stadium (aka The Bird's Nest) This is the moment that, I, as a Chinese would be proud of. China which has been practising the "closed-door" policy ever since the Revolutionary Period in President Moa's regimes, has finally opened the door to the world by hosting this prestige Olympic Game. China has also proved to the world that they are standing at the same height among the developed country alongside the world powerhouses. They have already sent their man to space, building the very first own passenger jet aircraft and now, they are going against all odds to win the Olympic. Believe me, they have the willpower and strength to win the game this time around. Haha :)

I am watching Olympic Opening Ceremony now,
are you catching them live on your television screen too?
They have put up a great effort to stage
such grand opening ceremony,
you shouldn't miss it.
It will be an event that everyone will remember
for the rest of their life ...
Yeah ;O

Beijing Olympic Stadium, aka The Bird's Nest ...

By the way, still remeber the mysterious box
that I mentioned on my previous post?
Here you go ...
Tennnnng!! (",)

It is a MasWing's Meal Box on board of the aircraft ...
A packet of Milo, sandwiches (Tuna and Cheese Egg)
and a bar of Kit-Kat Chocolate ...
Have a break, everyone?
Have a Kit-Kat!
Haha :)

p/s: KJ must be super-happy now
cause she got the answer correct.

Lolz :)

thick fog or haze?

True, last night's opening ceremony was spectacular. Gotta give them the credit when it's due. I watched till the end, when they lit the torch- extraordinary.. Then i thought about it, China has set a very high benchmark for future hosts. Imagine IF it were to be held in our country!!!

Pity that time when I went there, we couldn't enter the Bird's Nest. cannot even see it upclose. Only can see from the tea factory :(. God, if given another chance, I'd like to visit the water cube too. Contemporary architectural design...

Eh, I didn't know that I was so clever!!!

Keith - jkiml: It was the thick fog, I guess. However, it could be haze too, considering Beijing is one of the most polluted city as well. Too bad, I could only take photographs beside the highways with the Bird's Nest Stadium as backdrop. The construction was yet to complete at that time. Haha :)

Keith - KJ: Congratulation for getting the answer correctly. You are cool!! Yeah :)

I think it's both. Fog but the haze makes it worst. When I was in Beijing last year, the flight back was delayed from morning till night cos of the fog. Planes couldn't land and depart. Good thing we were using MAS because the delay made me miss our KL-Kch flight. If it was AirAsia, *screams*.

Delay was a blessing in disguise as MAS gave us a complimentary half-day stay at an airport hotel and Good Food!!!!!
