Beijing Trip - Day3

Today is Christmas and we are going to ...
Climb the Great Wall!!
Merry Christmas, everyone :)

The Great Wall of China (Wan' Li Chang' Cheng) is the
world's longest ever human made structure,
stretching over 6700km in total.
This section is located in 50miles from Beijing is
also known as Badaling, which had been previously
used to protect the capital (Pe'King).

My sister was standing beside the ancient Terracottas
which were displayed along the Great Wall
to signify the sacrifices and dedication of each of the warriors
to protect China from barbarian's attacks
in between 5th century BC to 16th century BC.
If you look closely and careful enough,
you will realize each of the Terracotta is of different facial expression.
Amazing!

Of course la, I was shivering in cold
as I need to wear 4 layers of thick clothes to keep myself warm.
Temperature of the day: Approximately 3 - 5 degrees Celsius

That's not even half of the way to the next watchtower and barrack
on each section along the Great Wall ...
Long journey, tiring but it was exciting as
we traveled back in time to experience ancient China

That's only one section of Great Wall?
So, can you imagine how huge and gigantic is China's Great Wall now?
The steps that form the Great Wall of China are very
steep and tall in some areas.
We then become exhausted climbing the wall and
walk no more than a kilometer or two.
Hmmmm .... ;)

Not bad, we still can meet at Great Walls.

Míng cháo shí sān líng @ Thirteen Tombs of Ming Dynasty.
This path is known as Spirit Way ,
leads into the complex which is one of the finest preserved pieces of
15th century Chinese arts and architecture.
The front gate of the complex is a large,
three-arched gateway, painted red,
and called the "Great Red Gate".
Only the dead Emperor lying in the coffin
will be carried along this way for burial.
The Chinese will not walk along the Spirit Way.
Ironically, they will tell the Japanese to use the Spirit Way
if they wish to visit the mausoleum.
Do you know why?

The Spirit Way will lead you into mausoleum complex.
If you still remember, this Spirit Way is very much similar
to the Dragon Pathway in the Imperial Palace.
Exactly! This Spirit Way is actually connected
to the Imperial Palace in Beijing.
The dead Emperor will be carried and buried here
alongside with treasures and precious goodies.

The Emperor's Throne in afterlife.
Unlike the gold Sedan Chair in Imperial Palace,
this Sedan Chair is made of precious White Jade.
It is very cold on the surface when you touch it.
The blue-colored urn in front of the chair
is used to lit the light to shine the way which
leads the Emperor to heaven.
A dragon carving on the chair indicates it is used by the Emperor
while the Empress will use the Phoenix craved Sedan Chair.

This is another stone carving in the name of the Ming Dynasty Emperor.
This is only one of the Emperor's tomb stone.
Isn't it huge?
At the back of this tombstone, it is written
with all the good things and contributions that the particular
Emperor had done during his region.

Foot massage at Tibet Medical House in Beijing Cultural Village.
The herb water is said to cure foot odor and
eliminate toxins inside our body.
So, no harm, giving a try, right?

It is very relaxing as I put my feet inside
the bloody boiling herb water ...

Exams result is out today. I was freaking nervous when our GM, Mr Amru came into the class and told us about it. One by one, we were called into the classroom and the results were announced face to face. The waiting time was damn long, minutes were like years. Owh, what a slow torturing! Until my turn, after Yong came out ...

In the room ...

Mr Amru: Ok, Keith ...
Keith: .... taking a long breath slowly ...
Mr Amru: Module 7 ... (long pause) ... PASS
Module 9 ... (another long pause) ... PASS
Module 10 ... (which kills most of us, a longer pause) ...
Keith: ... I was crossing my fingers, and pray to GOD
Mr Amru: PASS ... You are clear!

I shouted in joyous mood and punched my fists in the air.
YES!!

Keith: Thanks you, Sir (2x)

I kept thanking Mr Amru as I walked to leave the classroom ...
YES!!!

All of us got through the examinations. Yong, Daniel, Wen Jie and I. We are going to proceed with our Category B (Certifying Engineer) together. Yeaahh :) ... Our dream is to establish as successful LAE by 2011 is a step nearer. It was a memorable day indeeed. I saw some people were cheering and dancing upon receiving the results and some were otherwise. Most of them were unable to get through Module 10 (Aviation Legislation) which was the "Giant Killer" of this examinations.

XXL Burger

This afternoon, my colleague, Daniel brought us (J-KimL, Nicholas, Ah Hing, Timmy, Wen Jie, Yong and I) to Sunway Pyramid (New Wing) to taste this XXL Burger in a fast food outlet in the name of Carl's Junior. The size of the burger is based on European Standard, about the 2times the size of McD's burgers. Haha ... Can you imagine how large is that? I ordered a Beef Burger (Famous Star) which came along with French Fries and Soft Drink of your choice. Oh, by the way, drink can be refillable UNLIMITEDLY ....

Beijing is well known for its fresh water Pearl ...
Most of the time, pearl of a size of few millimeters in diameter
can be harvested from a mature oyster of age 3-4yrs.

A giant jade craved Chinese cabbage in one of the popular Jade Shop in Beijing.

This is actually Pu Er Tea leaves.
This is my first time I saw tea leaves in round shape.
Well, Pu Er Tea had been drank by Emperor Qian Long during the Qing Dynasty and
it was believed to aid in digestion, reduce cholesterol and lipid level
as well as counteract the bad effect of heavy alcohol consumptions.
Pu Er Tea's price increase as its age gets older.
The longer you keep, the higher price you can sell them ...
So, start buying Pu Er Tea now ...
Great investment!

That's long time ago.

We were shown the correct methods to brew Chinese Tea

by a beautiful and lovely Yunnan lady
in HangZhou Dr Tea House in Beijing Cultural Village.
Water temperature should not exceed 85 degree Celsius
when brewing the tea.
Above: White Tea ready to be served

This is raw White Tea leaves which my mum bought for RMB 160.
White Tea has anti-viral and anti-bacterial qualities as compares to Green Tea.
See, Tea is better that Coffee, right

Big Apple From the Tree!!

One of the most famous donut outlet franchise in the country (Big Apple @ DA PING KUO) has just opened in NZH Plaza, located just in front of of condominium in Kelana Jaya, about 2minutes walk from my living area. Wow, I am totally shocked and surprised as I have been asking Wen Jie to buy me Big Apple Donuts whenever he is on the way to visits his ' personal friend' in Puchong. Hmmm, now it is settled already, as Big Apple Donuts are now just in front of my nose anytime I want to taste them. Haha :) After badminton in the evening, Ah Hing, Wei Liang, Nicholas, Yong, Wen Jie and I dropped by Big Apple to get the Donuts. A lot of people queue up to buy their favourite donuts - lots of choices and varieties ranging from Chocolate,Mocha, Mango, Durian, Green Tea, Cheese, Kiwis, and the list goes on and on ..... We bought a dozen and wacked them happily ... Yummy!

Guess what inside? Hehe ;)

Tian Ann Men Square - The place where People of Republic of China was born when
President Moa Zhe Dong proclaimed the formation of republic at here
on 1st October 1949 to end the region of The Qing Empire

leading to the Forbidden City @ Imperial Palace


Behind: The Hall of Supreme Harmony is the largest, and
rises some 30 metres above the level of the surrounding square.
It is the ceremonial centre of imperial power, and
the largest surviving wooden structure in China.

The Emperor's Throne - A big sedan chair coated with gold and exhibits the
skill of ancient craftsmanship.
Question: Did Chinese Emperors have big ass??
Look at the size of the chair!

Summer Palace @ Yi He Yun - The Imperial Garden where
China Emperors spent their summer with his concubines.
Artisans had reproduced the garden architecture styles of various palaces in China.
We were standing behind the Kunming Lake
which imitate the West Lake (Xi Hu) in HangZhou

My sis was standing beside Ying Ying - The Tibetan Antelope.
In her hand, she was holding Huan Huan - The Fire Phoenix.
The other three mascots are Bei Bei, Jing Jing and Ni Ni.
When the first syllables are said together,
the result is a phrase 北京欢迎你 (Běijīng huānyíng nĭ)
which means Beijing Welcomes You
