Have you switched off your lights?

Evey year, for the last Saturday of third month,
people around the world join their hand together to uphold a promise,
that is, to switch off all the non-essential
and electrical appliances
for an hour from 2030 hours to 2130 hours in order
to raise awareness of drastic climate change nowadays.
On this day at that particular hour,
iconic landmarks such as Big Ben in London,
The Forbidden City in Beijing and
Sydney Opera House in Sydney
will be in total darkness.
True enough, climate change has been a serious threat to eco-biodiversity;
taking an example of the recent rare hailstorms strike in Perth a few days ago.
So, are you playing your part too in conjunction of Earth Hour 2010?

Lit up candles during power-off from 2030 hours to 2130 hours.
Save energy, save power, save our Earth!
Unless a new safer renewable power resource
has been found, one day, soon or later,
the precious petroleum and gas supply
will be depleting and eventually run-out of supply

Take your first step now,
conserve electricity!
You can make a difference!

Happy Earth Day 2010 ...

Cheers,
KeithK :)

Sweet like Candy

Weather nowadays is unpredictable; one day, it can be burning hot and dry, the other, it can be just cloudy and as if a thunderstorm will strike sooner. So, I thought it will be wiser to have something more healthier, to keep ourselves fit and strong. Just a moment ago, while I was having dinner with my friend, Nic, I came across this Chinese Pharmaceutical Shop in Kota Damansara which sells some herb tea. Without hesitating, I grabbed them. A 500ml bottle eventually cost me an awesome RM2.50. Woah :)

"Lo Han Gua" / The Monk's Fruit
Traditionally, this fruit is used for
herb tea and soup to aid in
healing sore throat, respiratory ailments
and reputes to aid in longevity ...
Its natural sweetness and non-toxicity
are the best ingredients to quench
your thirst especially during hot weather :)

Stored them in fridge for tomorrow's supply ...
Like it!
Sweet sweet :)

All the best for Nic who is taking part
in KL Tower-thon tomorrow ...
He will be running up 2000+
steps all the way to 328m above sea level ...
Hope he doesn't "pancit", that's what
he was telling me just now ...

Cheers,
KeithK :)

Currently, I am engaged to this song,
I Look at You by Miley Cyrus ...
It is an official sound track (OST)
for the upcoming Disney's Movie Production,
entitles, The Last Song ...

Veronica, starred by Miley Cyrus has been living
in the shadows of her own after
her parents divorced.
Her father decided to move from NY City
to a small quiet town of Tybee Island, Georgia.
One summer, Veronica's mother has called on her
to spend time with her father in Tybee Island.
The story centers around an unforgettable story
about love in its myriad forms;
first love, love between parent and children ...
There are many ways that deeply felt
relationship can hurt our hearts, ...
at the same time, can heal our hearts too.

Official screening will be released on
1st of April, yeah 1st April,
not an April's Fool prank,
no worry ...
Haha :)

Enjoy ...

Ching Shan Yuen

A road trip of half an hour will take you to this place; Ching San Yuen also known as Green Mountain Temple at Muara Tebas Village, Kuching. The temple has been patronized by both locals and tourists, especially the Buddhists. The temple was strategically constructed atop of the hill, overseeing the wide open South China Sea, probably maximizing the ideal of Feng Shui. Surrounded by the Malay kampung, this place has grown prosperous and rich as more people are visiting the temple complex, thus slowly developing into one of the prominent tourist attraction in Kuching. Ching Shan has existed more than 200 years back on this ancient site, where sea travelers along the South China Sea will stop by to give thanks to the God after safely sailing across the Sea back and forth. It has undergone a major renovation since; the last time I have been here was a decade ago. Yeah, maybe more than a decade ago :)

Many people were thronging in and out of the temple
as it was Chinese New Year at this time.
Every new year, people come here
to pay their respect to God and Deities;
asking for abundance of blessing and prosperity.
Climbing up the stairs had been a setback,
as it was crowded and packed.
Not too high, approximately about 100 steps,
you will reach the Temple Complex.

Ching Shan Temple is guarding and overlooking over South China Sea.
After years, this sea route is still as busy as before.
Ships and boats are sailing; cargo transportation, fishing and trading.
Love the serene view here;
if only the weather was fine and not cloudy on that day,
it would be superb to take pictures with the
South China Sea as backdrop ...

Burning Joss Stick on Prayer Urn ...
Pray for the best of the year to come!

The symbolic giant Buddha's foot outside the temple
I saw a similar one in Wuxi, China back in 2005.

Mum and Dad

Dad sat on the stone scripture that reads, "Ching Shan Yuen"

The temple management does prepare food and drinks
for the visitors during festive day.
Apart from Chinese New Year,
food and drinks are also served during the
first and fifteen day in Chinese Lunar Calendar.
The Vegetarian Fried Mee is super delicious.
Although, it is just merely fried mee with vegetarian oil and cabbage,
it is indeed satisfying!
Eat with Chili Sauce,
yummy yummy :)

Blue Sky ...
Shot this before I went back;
after the rain, the clouds made way
and the sun was again to be seen with blue sky.
Yes, I love Blue Sky!

Got to go ...
Happy Weekends, everyone ...

Cheers,
KeithK :)
