Corner Talk: This weekend was an off day from college activity. Days have been busier over the last few week, as timetable was packed with two modules running parallel, Module 9 Human Factors and Module 13.8 Instruments. I must admit, Module 13.8 is a little pain in the neck, especially, at this particular junction, we are learning the Gyroscopics Instruments. Next week, we are moving into Compass System - another tough topics under Instruments. Module 9 Examinations is expected to be on 10th March, yup, a week from now, nevertheless, time is as precious as gold for revision. Don't you realized, The Journals has been quite inactive recently? Lolz :) Besides that, I have two assignments from Hj Khai with due date to be on the 10th March as well, most probably an oral session with Hj Khai lining up after this ... Hardly I can take a breath!! Oh yeah, last night, we celebrated Wen Jie's birthday, one of my best buddies in college with a hot steamy steamboat dinner at Tasty Pot in Sunway. A well done to Ewin, for taking the initiative to be the organizer along with the unexpected surprise to the birthday boy. Will find a day to cover a post on that ... Maybe? Hmmm .... Haha :)

Keith says: Yes, I admit that. I love to joke around and hang out with girls, however, developing a further relationship is something that I have though of. Maybe I am not committed yet?

Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.
Keith says: This is probably a statement that I don't agree with. For me, education comes first. Quality education for brighter future. No doubt, I wish, I could graduate soon with licenses and start working, but, I plan to go for another Degree with major in Engineering after that. I was a little regret and disappointed that I didn't sit for my STPM with 3 months to go as I picked up this course eventually, so, I must make up for the loss with something else in the future.

The right job for you:

You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

Keith says: Agree! I dislike Bio, I pick Engineering instead of Doctor. That's answers why. I love aircraft, that's the main reason why I am here in METC.

How do you view success:

You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

Keith says: Be optimistic! Have faith in yourself, put in your countless efforts and you will be paid off. Gambateh Keith!! God bless!!

Keith says: Sometimes I let go very easily, my schoolmates will know that I am a person who lack of patience and easily get hot-tempered. I am trying to change now, but, once a while, I still can't express my temper in a positive way ...

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Keith says: I get very confused especially things come up unexpectedly, and I can't sort it out. Often, I take a long time to make up my mind and decide what is best for me. Could I just listen to my heart? I prefer to think deeply into the matter still ...

apart from a few which is not so right.

Semenggoh Wildlife Centre

Corner Talk: Weekends had been a productive one, particularly, I managed to cover the whole lesson for Aircraft Fuel and Temperature Indicating System under Module 13.8. Today, Module 7 Human Factors for Cat B officially kicks off; my instructor, Hj Talib is such a nice guy, he is able to relate the field of study to our work scope in future. Supposedly a dull and dry lesson, somehow, I find it is significant that we, as aviation maintenance crews should not take for granted! Tomorrow, Mr Edward will teach Gyroscopic Instruments, probably, I would say, it has to be one of the toughest topics in this Module 13.8 course. Nevertheless, I believe the success will always depends on how much efforts you have poured in! It is hard, but, it is not impossible! Yeah :)

Continuing from my previous post, my outing with Doulos' friends in Semenggoh Wildlife Centre didn't end up with the Orang Utan, Delima, solely. It was more to a jungle-walking to appreciate the creation of mother nature - a way to escape from the thick and thin in city's life!

Outing with Doulos' friends

Corner Talk: Module 13.8 Instrument has started since last two weeks. I am enjoying the class very much with my instructor, Mr Edward. This module is challenging as compares to the previous modules that I have done, especially, more critical and logical thinking are needed to handle this subject. Indeed, understanding this subject is critical, as it will form the core and foundation for my licensing, particularly in Instrument. To do so, we need to co-relate all the knowledge that we have learned, not even, a piece of simple basic principle should be taken for granted. Good news, DCA is coming to college tomorrow for auditing for our approval application. Upon successful, it will be a breakthrough for our college in our career development in future. All the best to all of us!

During last year semester break, back in December 2008, Chung Ann and I brought a group of friends from Doulos Ship for a day-trip around the City of Cat, Kuching. It was coincidentally a public holiday that day, so they were off duty on-board. They were volunteers working in the ship. For your information, Doulos Ship has been operating for the last miracle 95 years since 1914. The Doulos is the world's oldest active ocean-fairing passenger ship, which is now used as a floating bookshop. Woah ... It is every single child's wonderland bookshop, remember when you were young when you nagged your parent to tag you along to the Doulos? Well, Doulos' day may come to an end now, as, she will call it a day after this year (2009). Last year (2008) will be her last visit to Malaysia. Oh well, the end of another chapter of Doulos!

Our trip began with a breakfast session my fellow friends at a local Chinese kopitiam. Even though, I have just newly met them on that particular day, I felt no stranger at all. They were all very friendly and warm, I really enjoying sharing and listening to their tales and experiences traveling around the world. It is not easy though, they left everything behind at their homeland, their family, careers and friends, just to join the voluntary works in Doulos. I wander will I have the courage to do so? Yet, their period of service isn't short, some may take your time up to years! I admire your courage, my fellow Doulos-ians!

this place is easily accessible with cars.
However, the road leading to the entrance
is rather narrow; one car at a time.

Delima, the Orang Utan ...
If you have read newspaper last week,
Delima, a female Orang Utan has just
recently gave birth to a baby Orang Utan.
It was reported in The Stars,
have you noticed?
Known for their intelligence,
they live in trees and,
they are the largest living
arboreal animal.
Fruits make up of 65%
of Orang Utan's diet.
By the time, we were there,
it was their feeding time by
the wildlife workers, so, we could
see a lots of Orang Utan swinging
form trees to trees.

Double the celebration

Corner Talk: ManUtd regained top spot of league after defeating the stubborn West Ham United by a goal to nil in Upton Park. Veteran, Ryan Giggs put United upfront with a low curling shot to the right goal thus leaving keeper Robert Green in puzzled. Yesterday, Hindus around the world were celebrating Thaipusam, a festival to commemorates both the birthday of Lord Murugan, the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati and the occasion when Parvati gave a spear to Murugan so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman.

Devotees thronged up the Batu Caves,
a holy temple for the Hindus community in Kuala Lumpur.
The large tall gold-colored statue of
Lord Murugan greeted the visitors
at the entrance of the site.
The highlight of the event includes the marching parade
which begins in the wee hours of the morning from the
Sri Mahamariamman Temple,
leading up to Batu Caves with
plenty of street performers and kavadi-carriers ...

Today, the Chinese will be celebrating
Chap Goh Mei (15th day of CNY)
which symbolizes the occasion of the
first full moon in the Lunar Calendar.
Of course, CNY is never run short of
Li0n Dance performance.

It is also when young unmarried women gather to toss
mandarin oranges @ Lo-Kam with their
names and contact information written on it
into the river, in a hope that their future spouse will pick it up
– a custom that originated in Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.
In the past, this was also the only day that
unmarried ladies could be seen with their partners.
Anyone is going out to pick Lo-Kam tonight?

Aviation Joke

A pilot flew the aircraft safely to its destination. Upon arrival, he wrote a report into the Maintenance Report 1 (MR1) and handed it to Engineer in charge at the airport which sounded, " A mouse observed entering the aircraft ". The pilot then left the Engineer with a big question mark hanging over his head, while he left to the washroom ... As he returned, the smart Engineer passed over the MR1 to the pilot and wrote, " A cat is observed chasing the mouse out of the aircraft! "

Review: CNY 2009

Corner Talk: Module 5 Digital Technique and Computer Systems ended yesterday. It was a rather challenging questions, most of us had already found minimum of 3 mistakes in the 40 questions papers. Even the top student in class, a friend of mine, spent the whole duration of 50 minutes inside the examination hall. It was so rare that he sat inside the hall, cracking his brain, otherwise, he will just submit his paper and walk out of the room in ONLY 10 minutes! Imagine that! 10 minutes!! As for me, I am not quite pleased with my performance; I shouldn't have make some of the silly mistakes in the exam; particularly being over-confident and careless. Instead, I should have read the questions in more detail before making the correct choice. Sigh. Ironically, questions that I was unable to answer at the first place, I managed to get it correctly after checking with my friends! Costly!! Anyway, I hope I will be able to make it for Module 5 Exam. < KeithK crosses his fingers and pray hard! >

2 weeks ago, we were all anticipating for Chinese New Year break, but, in the split of eyes, we will be celebrating " Chap Goh Mei ", the 15th day of Chinese New Year, which also means, the end of the festive season. Here's quick review of the thick and thin of my CNY 2009 celebration ...

This is my master-piece. Nice arrangements, yeah?
All these here are the symbolic Chinese New Year items.
The mandarin-orange @ "lo-kam", which means prosperity.
Kuih Bakul @ "nian kao" symbolizes sweet and happy year to come.
White lettuce @ "Chai Tao" carries the
meaning of excellent achievements every year.
Pamelo indicates fullness.
Pumpkin is also another symbol for prosperity and wealth.
Haha :)

Visited my grandmother @ " Ah Ma " early
in the morning of 1st day CNY.
She is very old now, not sure of her age,
she is 90-something years old by now.
She is staying with my uncle,
while my mum will take care of her diet every day
as my uncle is running business in the morning.
"Sing Chia Ju Yee, Ah Ma!", this is the
Teochew version of
wishing my grandmother a Happy Chinese New Year ...

My mum's steamed fish was voted the best dish this year ...
Red tilapia fish with 7 ingredients
(garlic, red onions, gingers, mushrooms,
preserved salted vegetables, carrots and light soy sauce)
Look, the fish looks steamy!

10 feets firecrackers!
My dad bought from my uncle.
Don't know why, while the
world is having economic slump and downturn,
firecrackers can still be found so commonly around Kuching town.
They are even sold openly to the public!
Ewin was telling me to bring him some from home.
Oh my ...!
Just to share with you all,
when I was just to lit the firecrackers that night,
a police Waja car came patrolling around my house.
Too shocked, and before I pissed in my pant,
I ran into my house after taking down the
10 feets firecrackers that I hung on a bamboo pole.
That's fun! Damn high wei ...

However, the presence of police didn't deter me
from playing firecrackers.

Chinese New Year is the time when the unmarried young like me
will receive the red packets with money @ "Ang Pao"
from those who have married.
Yeah! As I mentioned earlier, due to effects of economic slump,
the amounts of "Ang Pao" that I got had decreased significantly.
So, how much have you got?

Kuching was heavily rained cats and dogs
for the few days during CNY.
Some lower areas in Kuching and Sibu
were heavily flooded due to rising water of Sungai Rajang.
Heavy downpour had also limited
the numbers of houses that I had visited.
To those my friends who I couldn't make it to your place,
my apology to you all.
Haha :)

Shine on St Thomas!

Corner Talk: 2 days to go for Module 5 Aircraft Digital Technique and Computer System Final examination. The heat is on, amount of tension is mounting high as everyone makes another round of final preparation. My revision is still on-going, currently, on the last topics with few pages to go. My colleagues and I have agreed to have a session of Q&A before the examination on Friday during the Muslim's Friday prayer lunch time since the examination will be organized after lunch. That's becomes parts of our routine every time before examination, sitting down around a corner, and "bombarding" each other with multiple of questions ... Good thing, it serves as a refresher period to recall back what you have learned! Go go go, full throttle now!! Lolz :)

This was a picture that was recently taken during my visit to my Prefectorial Board teacher's house, Miss Chong during Chinese New Year. We really had an enjoyable moment, hanging around and sharing stories from here and there. We had made a promise to meet at every year Chinese New Year at Miss Chong's house since we are all studying at different places. The only time when evryone would be available is during the CNY holiday break. It is indeed wonderful, to maintain such a strong bond and close friendship between us, and it is the love and care to each other that makes this relationship invaluable.

Back from CNY

Chinese New Year has already gone through halfway, things are now back to normal. No more holiday's mood, CNY's mood or what-so-ever, cause life must go on. Obviously, Chinese New Year 2009 was great and full of excitements, I have so plenty of tales to share with you all, especially, my trip from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching back and forth. Sometimes, things just get out of your control. For instance, my flight from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday ( 29th of January) was scheduled to take off at 0815 hours and will be arriving at KLIA by 1100 hours. Then, I will need to wait for 1300 shuttle bus which will take me to directly to Subang Airport. By 1400 hours, I shall be able to make it to attend my class in college on time. However, after all sorts of calculations, something went unexpectedly. Early in the morning of that particular day, my flight was delayed by 3 hours due to bad weather condition in Kuching Airport. The flight I supposed to hop in, MH 2713 was diverted to Sibu. Fine!! In the end, I managed to fly back to Kuala Lumpur by 1130 hours and arrived on KLIA by 1315 hours. No choice, I have to wait for another 1 hour for shuttle bus to Subang. By then, I rushed to college, it was already 1600 hours. Attend Module 5 class for 30 minutes, then, the class ended. Oh my!! That's hectic of travel! Sigh ... Tired!! Exhausted!!

To date, coming back from CNY break,
I have plenty of tasks to complete.

Assignment 1 (ACARS), due date: 2th February
Assignment 2 (Fibre Optics and BITE), due date: 5th February
Module 5 Digital Technique Final Examination on 6th February
Module 13.8 Aircraft's Instrument begins ...
